Abstract

To explore the effects of Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharides on the production performance,antioxidant indicators,and immune function of dairy cows.Using a single factor completely randomized experimental design,60 Holstein cows with similar parity,milk production,and lactation days were divided into four groups:CON group(basal diet),B+L-C group(basal diet+200 mg/kg Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharide),B+M-C group(basal diet+400 mg/kg Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharide),and B+H-C group(basal diet+600 mg/kg Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharide),with 15 cows in each group and 3 replicates in each group,with 5 cows in each replicate.The experimental period was 60 days.The results showed that compared with the CON group,the average daily milk production,milk protein content,and total solids of cows in the B+L-C group,B+M-C group,and B+H-C group were significantly increased(P<0.05);The somatic cell numbers of cows in the B+L-C group,B+M-C group,and B+H-C group were significantly reduced(P<0.05);The levels of T-AOC,T-SOD,IgA,IgG,and IgM in the tail vein serum of cows in the B+L-C group,B+M-C group,and B+H-C group were significantly increased(P<0.05);The levels of MDA,IL-6,and TNF-α in the tail vein serum of cows in the B+L-C group,B+M-C group,and B+H-C group were significantly reduced(P<0.05).The average daily milk production,milk protein content,and total solids of cows in the B+M-C group were the highest,while the somatic cell count was the lowest;The levels of T-AOC,T-SOD,IgA,IgG,and IgM in the tail vein serum of cows in the B+M-C group were the highest,while the levels of MDA,IL-6,and TNF-α were the lowest.The above results indicate that adding 200 mg/kg,400 mg/kg,and 600 mg/kg of Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharides to the basic diet of cows can not only effectively improve their antioxidant capacity and immune function,but also effectively improve their production performance.The best effect is achieved with the addition of 400 mg/kg Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharides.
