Abstract
Fornix column infarction is an extremely uncommon clinical condition,predominantly characterized by acute memory decline and Korsakoff syndrome.Owing to the unique anatomical location and morphological features of the fornix column,it is prone to being overlooked in imaging examinations.Previous studies have indicated that the primary blood supply to the fornix column is derived from the subcallosal artery,a branch of the anterior communicating artery(AComA).Iatrogenic injury following clipping of AComA aneurysms and microvascular diseases are the two most frequent causes of fornix column infarction.This paper reported a case of isolated bilateral fornix column infarction.This patient's right internal carotid artery ophthalmic segment aneurysm directly compressed the AComA and the subcallosal artery,leading to ischemia and infarction of the fornix column.This specific etiology has not been previously documented domestically or internationally.This case served as a reminder that for patients with fornix column infarction,careful screening for aneurysms in the vicinity of the AComA complex is essential.关键词
