Renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine physician Fan Chunguang's clinical experience in treating osteonecrosis of the femoral head with Quyu Shenggu Decoction

Abstract
Dr.Fan Chunguang,a renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)physician,has devoted nearly 50 years to researching intractable diseases,with profound expertise in treating osteonecrosis of the femoral head(ONFH).He underscores that"blood stasis-induced ischemia"is central to the pathogenesis of ONFH,persisting throughout the course of the disease.When blood circulation is impaired,stasis cannot be eliminated.If stasis is not removed,new blood cannot form.This aligns with the TCM principle of destruction precedes reconstruction-eliminating stasis to unblock collaterals,thereby halting necrosis and enabling new bone regeneration to replace necrotic tissue.Mr.Fan formulated an empirical prescription named"Quyu Shenggu Decoction",designed to precisely address the pathogenesis by targeting its core aspects,thereby achieving the effect of improving ischemia.Clinical applications have demonstrated that the Quyu Shenggu Decoction effectively alleviates pain rapidly.Moreover,CT and other diagnostic procedures have confirmed the formation of new bone tissue,leading to either complete recovery or significant improvement in patients.This article summarizes Dr.Fan's clinical experience and academic insights of ONFH treated with Quyu Shenggu Decoction from perspectives of etiology,therapeutic principles,formula composition,and case studies,highlighting the advantages of TCM in managing ONFH.关键词
