Abstract

Double-row photovoltaic(PV)arrays are characterized by high clearance,multiple gaps,and mutual shading between the front and rear rows,and their aerodynamic properties significantly differ from those of traditional single-row PV arrays.Firstly,the aerodynamic characteristics of the double-row PV layout were thoroughly investigated by computational fluid dynamics(CFD)methods and the simulation results were validated through wind tunnel tests on rigid models of flexible double-row PV arrays.Secondly,the effects of tilt angle,spacing ratio,and the number of PV panels on the aerodynamic characteristics of double-row PV arrays were analyzed.Finally,a simplified calculation method and recommended values for the shape coefficient of double-row PV arrays were proposed by data fitting techniques.The results show that the shape coefficient of a single PV zone is closely related with the tilt angle,spacing ratio,and the number of PV panels,with a linear relationship between the shape coefficient and these three parameters.The wind pressure coefficient on the windward side of the double-row PV array changes uniformly,with the maximum positive wind pressure occurring at the lower edge of the bottom row and negative pressure appearing at the upper edge of the top row.The shape coefficient of the double-row PV array increases with the tilt angle,and vortex shedding occurs when the tilt angle exceeds 20°,affecting the wind pressure distribution on the leeward side of the PV array.However,the ratio of the shape coefficients between the top and bottom rows remains largely unchanged,with the edge spans exhibiting a larger proportional coefficient compared to the middle spans.
