Abstract

To address the deterioration issues of cement concrete pavements under saline freeze-thaw environments,such as surface spalling and internal reinforcement corrosion,the memory effect of calcium-aluminum layered double hydroxides(CA-LDH)was utilized to investigate the influence of calcined CA-LDH on the salt resistance,freeze-thaw durability and mechanical properties of cement-based materials.Molecular dynamics simulations were employed to analyze the kinetic mechanisms underlying its salt resistance.The results demonstrate that the calcined CA-LDH effectively binds chloride ions from the solution,resulting in the reconstruction of its layered structure,when treated at temperature of 400℃to 800℃.The incorporation of calcined CA-LDH enhances early cement hydration,optimizes the pore size distribution of mortar,and increases the mechanical strength.At an optimal dosage of 1.0%,the pore size distribution is significantly improved,resulting in the highest freeze-thaw resistance,with reductions of 13.4%and 10.2%in the chloride ion diffusion coefficient and electric flux,respectively.Under chloride salt corrosion conditions,calcined CA-LDH effectively binds chloride ions penetrating into the concrete,reducing the concentration of free chloride ions in the concrete structure and hindering their diffusion.Consequently,it synergistically enhances the resistance of cementitious materials against chloride ion erosion.
