Protection Distance of Parallel Gap Under Single-Phase Installation Mode of 10 kV Overhead Line

Abstract
The single-phase installation of parallel gap can significantly improve the lightning withstand level of induced lightning and lightning strike cross arm under 10 kV overhead line.To enable the appli-cation of this measure,it is necessary to further determine the protection distance of the parallel gap.Based on the principle that the lightning withstand level of the line does not decrease,the method to cal-culate the parallel gap protection distance is proposed,considering the two lightning stroke modes of in-duced lightning overvoltage and lightning cross arm,as well as the two different lightning stroke parts of the line and the lightning stroke when the base tower is struck by lightning.Based on the volt-second characteristic curve of P-15 insulator and gap obtained by discharge test,taking the typical tower,con-ductor and insulator of 10 kV overhead line as an example,the protection distance of single-phase in-stallation parallel gap under the above different conditions is simulated and calculated.Considering the influence of the lightning strike,the protection distance of the single-phase installation parallel gap is 41.1 m under the two forms of lightning strike,induced lightning overvoltage and lightning cross arm ov-ervoltage.The results show that for 10 kV overhead lines with typical settings of 80 m span,in the single-phase installation mode of parallel gap,in order not to reduce the lightning withstand level of the line,the single-phase parallel gap should be continuously installed.The research will provide theoreti-cal basis and method guidance for the application of single-phase installation parallel gap.关键词
