Controllable Gap Triggering Technology for Lightning Arrester Based on Plasma Jet

Abstract
In order to reduce the residual voltage,improve the volt-ampere characteristics of zinc oxide surge arresters,and enhance the overvoltage protection level of the power grid,a controllable surge ar-rester based on plasma jet gap triggering technology has been investigated.The author details the design of the gap structure and technical parameters of the triggering switch for the controllable surge arrester,a-chieving a surge arrester triggering gap switch consisting of high and low voltage electrodes,a pulse for-mation circuit,and a plasma jet injector as the primary components.Experimental studies were conduc-ted on the conduction characteristics of the gap under multiple triggering conditions,and a simulation study was performed to analyze the movement of the conducting arc column under electromagnetic influ-ence.Measurement and analysis of the conduction characteristics of the gap at different voltages were car-ried out to validate the feasibility of the plasma jet gap triggering technology for surge arresters.The re-sults indicate that under this design scheme,when the gap voltage reaches the self-sustaining threshold,stable conduction can be maintained within 6 ms of triggering,the self-sustaining threshold is 19.5 kV.关键词
