Abstract

Since the full completion of BeiDou-3 global navigation satellite system,increasing attention has been paid to its capability for independent operation.With the rapid development of low-cost GNSS chipsets,some mobile devices are now capable of receiving triple-frequency BeiDou signals.Investigating the precise point positioning(PPP)performance of standalone BeiDou on smartphones is of great significance for exploring the potential of high-precision positioning using low-cost devices.This paper evaluates the static PPP performance of BeiDou-3 B1I,B2a,and B1C signals on a smartphone.Experimental results based on approximately two hours of observation data show that for dual-frequency positioning,the B1I+B2a and B1I+B1C combinations achieved positioning accuracies of 0.72 m,1.14 m,3.06 m and 0.71 m,1.85 m,2.37 m in the east,north,and up directions,respectively.Among these,only the east component converged to within 1 meter.The triple-frequency solution improved the eastward accuracy by 64.79%compared to the dual-frequency results,while the positioning accuracies in the north and up directions were between those of the two dual-frequency combinations.After incorporating GPS observations,decimeter-level positioning accuracy was achieved in all three directions within a relatively short period of time.
