Abstract

A sludge application experiment was conducted in the Beijing Jingxi Forest Farm Fraxinus chinensis plantation plot,with the aim of exploring the resource utilization of sludge products,address the poor soil fertility in rocky mountainous areas,and balance the release of nutritional elements and the risk of heavy metal pollution from sludge products.Five application rates of the sludge product were set,namely 0,16,32,48,and 64 kg per tree.The effects of sludge product application on tree growth,heavy metal uptake in leaves and roots,soil physicochemical properties,and soil heavy metal content were investigated.Additionally,the soil heavy metal pollution status was assessed by single-factor,Nemerow index,potential ecological risk,and geoaccumulation index methods.The results showed that the application of the sludge product had a relatively good promoting effect on the growth of F.chinensis,with the highest growth rate observed at an application rate of 32 kg per tree.From an overall perspective,the application of the sludge product decreased the soil pH value and the content of organic matter,total nitrogen,and total potassium,which was related to microbial decomposition and tree absorption,while increasing the total phosphorus content.In addition,the application of the sludge product reduced the uptake of Pb,while promoting the uptake of Cu,Ni,and Hg in the leaves of F.chinensis.Although the application of the sludge product increased the uptake of heavy metals in the roots,reduced soil content of Cu,Zn,and Ni,and increased the soil Hg content,none of these exceeded the limits specified in the"Soil Environmental Quality Standard for Agricultural Land Soil Pollution Risk Control"(Trial).The assessment of soil heavy metal pollution indicated that the pollution risk of Cu,Zn,Pb,and Ni caused by the sludge product was extremely low,while Hg posed a higher pollution risk,which was still within a controllable range.In conclusion,the sludge product is suitable for application in F.chinensis plantations in rocky mountainous areas,demonstrating a good plant growth-promoting effect.It is recommended that the sludge product can be applied at a rate of 32 kg per tree.
