Abstract

This study analyzed the impact of packaging conditions(inner bag folding,damage)on quality issues such as damp packages,caking,and red discoloration during the storage process of white granulated sugar.This study was based on the sampling inspection data of 3 250 packages of warehouse-stored white granulated sugar from 12 enterprises across five consecutive crushing seasons.Statistical methods such as t-tests were employed to analyze the correlations between white granulated sugar packaging conditions(inner bag folding,damage)and issues during warehousing,including damp packages,caking,and red discoloration of white granulated sugar.Additionally,changes in quality indicators(sucrose content,reducing sugar content,loss on drying)of red-discolored white granulated sugar before and after warehousing were investigated.The results showed significant correlations(P<0.05)between caking and damp packages,red discoloration of white granulated sugar and damp packages,inner bag damage and inner bag folding,damp packages and inner bag damage,as well as inner bag damage and caking.Significant effects(P<0.05)were observed from inner bag folding on damp packages,whereas the reverse effects were not significant.Compared to the standard for first grade white granulated sugar,the loss on drying of stored red discoloration of white granulated sugar exceeded the standard by 6.14 times,the sucrose content decreased by 1.31 g/100g,and the reducing sugar content exceeded the standard by 3.60 times.This study provides a scientific basis for optimizing packaging processes,improving warehouse management,and formulating targeted maintenance measures.
