The"14th Five-year Plan"Achievement and"15th Five-year Plan"Development Strategies of the Sugarcane Industry in Yunnan

Abstract
Yunnan,as a national core base and production protection zone for sugarcane,plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stable supply and security of national sugar.The sugarcane industry is a key sector in Yunnan,exerting a pivotal influence on rural revitalization and farmers'income growth.This paper summarizes the development achievements of Yunnan's sugarcane industry during the"14th Five-year Plan"period and proposes development strategies for the"15th Five-year Plan"period.During the"14th Five-year Plan",the planting area and sugarcane output in Yunnan stopped declining and rebounded.The early planting of new sugarcane developed rapidly,the self-bred variety"Yunzhe"was rapidly promoted,and full mechanization in hilly and mountainous areas advanced rapidly.Yunnan's sugar output reached a record high.In the 2024/25 crushing season,the sugarcane planting area in Yunnan recovered to 0.2817 million hectares,producing 2.4188 million tons of sucrose.For the"15th Five-year Plan",Yunnan will aim to stabilize the sugarcane planting area,increase sugarcane yield per unit area,and improve sucrose content.It will compact the responsibility of production protection zones,lead with scientific and technological innovation,construct modern sugarcane industrial parks with full mechanization as the core,strengthen the comprehensive utilization of by-products,develop diversified sugarcane products,enhance the competitiveness of Yunnan's sugar industry,and promote income growth for sugarcane farmers in ethnic minority areas while ensuring national sugar industry security.关键词
