Chemical composition and mixing state of organic amine-containing single particles in autumn atmosphere of Xi'an

Abstract
To understand the pollution characteristics of organic amines in the atmosphere of Xi'an in autumn,online observation of organic amine particles in the atmosphere was conducted by using a Single Particle Aerosol Mass Spectrometry(SPAMS)during the autumn of 2021(from October 1st to November 14th).The pollution characteristics,chemical composition,and mixing state of organic amine particles in the atmosphere were analyzed.During the monitoring period,organic amine-containing particles accounted for 57.3%of all detected particles.Diethylamine(DEA)was the most abundant organic amine species,accounting for 86.2%of the total organic amine particles,followed by triethylamine(TEA)and trimethylamine(TMA).By using an adaptive resonance neural network algorithm combined with manual classification,amine particles in the autumn atmosphere were divided into six categories,including Elemental Carbon(A-EC),Organic Carbon(A-OC),Elemental Carbon-Organic Carbon Mixed Particles(A-ECOC),High-molecular Organic Carbon(A-HOC),Dust,and Potassium-rich Particles(K-rich),among which A-OC particles accounted for the largest proportion(about 63.3%).The particle size distribution study showed that the particle size of amine-containing particles was mainly distributed between 0.3 and 0.7 µm.According to the Air Quality Index(AQI),the observation period was divided into excellent days(0-50),good days(50-100),and light pollution days(100-150).The study on organic amine particles in different types of days found that from excellent and good days to light pollution days,the proportion of A-OC particles was the largest and gradually increased,indicating that A-OC particles were generated during the pollution process,which might be related to the combustion process and the aging process of particles.In the study on the mixing state with secondary inorganic components,it was found that with the aggravation of air pollution,the mixing degree of organic amine-containing particles with sulfates and nitrates increased.The study showed that the relative acidity of particles increased,and the number of organic amine particles also increased significantly,indicating that a strong acidic environment might promote the gas-solid partitioning process of organic amines.These results provided a theoretical basis for exploring the existence form of atmospheric organic amine particles and their potential impact on the formation of Secondary Organic Aerosol(SOA).关键词
