Abstract

As a hub of the East Route Project of the South-to-North Water Diversion,Dongping Lake has been severely affected by the periodic outbreak of Potamogeton crispus in recent years.To effectively control the overgrowth of Potamogeton crispus,it is crucial to timely and accurately grasp the status of its water environment and the changing trends of water quality.From March 2022 to February 2023,water quality detection was conducted at 41 selected monitoring points in Dongping Lake.Principal component analysis(PCA)was applied to refine and optimize water quality evaluation indicators,and this process was carried out for four seasons respectively,aiming to identify the main factors affecting the water quality of Dongping Lake in each season.Through Geographic Information System(GIS)technology,the comprehensive water quality scores obtained from PCA were visualized spatially,and a spatial distribution map of the comprehensive scores of water quality principal components was generated.The results showed that PCA revealed the dominant factors of water quality changes in different seasons,among which TP,permanganate index(CODMn),and chlorophyll a(Chl a)(spring),total suspended solids(TSS),TP,CODMn,and Chl a(summer),TN,CODMn(autumn),and TSS,ammonia nitrogen,and sulfate(winter)were significant.Within the corresponding seasons,the changes of these parameters largely reflect the main aspects of water quality variability,and their magnitude changes had a significant impact on water quality classification.The water quality status of Dongping Lake showed obvious seasonal and regional changes.The spatial distribution of water quality in the lake area was jointly affected by various factors such as the sources of organic matter,human activities,the topography of the lake area,and water inflow and drainage.
