Modeling and simulation of brittle fracture in Discrete Element double-sphere models
摘要
Abstract
To improve the accuracy of displacement field computations in the Discrete Element Method(DEM),this study proposes a dual-sphere model from the perspectives of arrangement modeling and force transmission.To validate the accuracy and applicability of the dual-sphere model,this research investigates the displacement field of a perforated plate.By comparing the results of DEM simulations with finite element analysis,it is found that the maximum relative errors of displacement fields in four directions along three cutting lines are 11.5%,4.6%,4.1%,and 0.1%,respectively,validating the accuracy of the dual-sphere model.Subsequently,the dual-sphere model is utilized to simulate Brazilian splitting tests and three-point notched fracture tests,demonstrating that its fracture behavior and force-displacement curves closely match experimental results,thereby confirming the accuracy and applicability of the dual-sphere model.This study provides new methods and perspectives for a deeper understanding of fracture behavior.关键词
