Abstract
For the failure problem of MeshRite sand control screen pipe in a thermal recovery well in the Bohai Sea,the failure causes of the screen pipe were comprehensively analyzed by macro-morphology analysis,physical and chemical analysis,and corrosion performance analysis of the failed pipe fittings,combined with the characteristics of operational conditions.The analysis found that the macro analysis revealed extensive shedding of the metal fibers on the screen.The physical and chemical analysis results showed a 36.36% reduction in the average diameter of the failed metal fibers after service,with tensile strength declining by 28%.Corrosion performance analysis indicated that the failed metal fibers underwent CO2 corrosion and pitting in the well.The cause of MeshRite screen failure was determined to be severe corrosion of the metal fiber layer downhole,leading to localized thinning of the metal fibers,which subsequently caused a decrease in fiber strength.Eventually,under erosive conditions,parts of the corroded metal fibers detached,compromising the protective function and resulting in screen failure.关键词
