Assessment of Non-carcinogenic Health Risks of Heavy Metals in Soils of Typical Metal Smelting Sites

Abstract
Based on survey data of a metal smelting plot in Wuhan,the Hazard Quotient(HQ)and Hazard Index(HI)of soil heavy metals were calculated by modified HQ and HI methods,which was used the Target Organ Toxicity Dose(TTD)and Weight of Evidence(WOE)methods.Meanwhile,the non-carcinogenic health risks were evaluated.The results showed that the total HI value of the four soil heavy metals(Zn,Pb,As,Cu)obtained by the traditional assessment method was 7.319,the total HI value modified by the TTD model was 7.9613,and the total HI values of each target organ(nerves,kidneys,and blood)after modification by the WOE model were 8.30.The assessment results based on the risk calculation model of the target organs were higher than those of the traditional method.Compared with the traditional methods,these two calculation models can more accurately reflect the non-carcinogenic health risk levels of heavy metals in soil to the human body.关键词
