Abstract
Against the backdrop of the"dual carbon"strategy,Xinjiang based itself on its own resource endowments,made efforts to build a green industrial system,improved the institutional mechanisms for the"dual carbon"goals,and faced the severe challenges in achieving the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.Using the LMDI decomposition method and the Tapio decoupling model,and based on the time-series data from 2000 to 2021,the driving factors of carbon emissions from energy consumption in Xinjiang were empirically analyzed.The results showed that the Tapio decoupling model confirmed that Xinjiang was in a state of growth negative decoupling between economic growth and carbon emissions for most of the time.A positive correlation was found between carbon dioxide emissions and economic growth in Xinjiang,but the growth rate of carbon dioxide was generally higher than that of the economy.The LMDI decomposition method confirmed that economic development and population size were positive driving factors,while energy efficiency effect and industrial structure effect were negative driving factors.However,the energy efficiency factor might also promote the increase of carbon emissions in some years.The energy structure effect fluctuated greatly,and its contribution rate to carbon emission intensity was found to fluctuate between positive and negative.Under the background of dual carbon,the industrial structure should be optimized in Xinjiang,and the realization of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in Xinjiang should be promoted by advancing the reform of energy use structure and promoting low-carbon concepts.关键词
