Abstract

Auxiliary converter is a critical component of the auxiliary power supply system in rail transit vehicles.Its primary function is to power auxiliary loads such as air conditioning and air brake compressors.The double overcurrent fault in auxiliary converters represents a typical failure mode in auxiliary power systems.Some faults exhibit sporadicity,making troubleshooting time-consuming,labor-intensive,and inefficient.Such faults can compromise passenger comfort and even jeopardize train operational reliability,posing significant impacts.Based on an urban metro line auxiliary converter in China,cause analysis is carried out on its double overcurrent protection triggers before the load protection circuit breaker trips under short-circuit conditions.A testing platform integrating auxiliary converter and circuit breaker is established.Test results verify that the tripping time of the S203M-D63 circuit breaker is less than 8 ms.Based on the characteristics of this circuit breaker,a coordinated protection strategy is developed for the auxiliary converter:(1)Implementing an 8 ms delay after double overcurrent protection signal activation before self-protection;(2)Instantaneous protection activation when bridge arm current exceeds 1 250 A.Test results also demonstrate that this software strategy enables rapid and precise fault localization and isolation of short-circuit loads,significantly enhancing the power supply reliability of auxiliary systems.The solution has been successfully implemented and promoted in China's metro market.
