摘要

Abstract

Steel plates have been widely adopted in building structures and marine engineering.The steel plates with opening are always needed due to the using function or corrosion caused by surrounding environment.The opening can reduce the effective shear area and then decrease the shear capacity.The influence of rectangular and circle opening on the shear capacity of steel plates is investigated in the presented work.The influence of opening position and opening ratio were studied through experiment.The experimental results indicate that the opening position has obvious influence on the shear capacity and the decrease of shear capacity cannot be simply estimated by the opening ratio.Then,a numerical model was developed and validated by the experimental and theoretical results.A parametric analysis was performed to reveal the influence of opening position on shear strength of steel plates.A reduction factor was proposed to consider the influence of opening and a formula for reduction factor was proposed.The accuracy of the formula was validated through comparison of results.The work presented in this study can provide a foundation for the estimation of shear strength of steel plates.
