Abstract

[Objective]To clarify the probability of citrus canker being carried by offline-sold citrus fruits in the market,a relevant investigation and study were conducted.[Method]From January to February 2024,in nine cities across seven provinces including Jiangxi,Anhui,Shandong,Jiangsu,Henan,Sichuan,and Fujian,the probability of citrus canker occurrence in various citrus sold through supermarkets,fruit stores,and roadside stalls was investigated based on the symptoms of citrus canker lesions,and statistical analysis was performed.The pathogens in the collected diseased fruits were identified through pathogen isolation and 16S rRNA gene amino acid sequence alignment and comparison.[Result]Some of the citrus canker-infected fruits collected from the investigation sites were confirmed upon identification.The probability of citrus canker fruits appearing at the investigation sites was as high as 88.9%.The citrus disease fruit rates ranged from 0%to 56%across different categories and sale locations,with an average disease fruit rate as high as 21.5%.Among the sale channels of fruit stores and roadside stalls,the citrus disease fruit rates reached 36.2%and 23%,respectively,which were significantly higher than the 2.8%disease fruit rate in supermarket sales.The disease fruit rates of navel oranges,Shatangju,and Wogan were 24%,27.3%,and 22.8%,respectively,with no significant differences among them.[Conclusion](1)The risk of citrus canker transmission through citrus fruit transportation is widespread in most surveyed regions.(2)The transmission risk of citrus canker through two sale channels,including fruit stores and roadside stalls,is significantly higher than that in supermarkets.(3)For susceptible categories such as navel oranges,Shatangju,and Wogan(Orah),the risk of transmitting citrus canker via physical sale channels is comparable and consistently remains at a high level.This investigation and study are of great significance for formulating plant quarantine policies and control measures for citrus canker diseases.
