Abstract

[Objective]Pine wilt disease is a significant forestry quarantine pest that can cause devastating mortality in pine trees,leading to massive destruction of pine forests and severe economic losses.However,progress in the research and control of this disease has been relatively slow.To explore the effectiveness of artificial intervention and natural restoration techniques in the control of pine wilt disease.[Method]In this study,forest plots with different stand structures(pure stands and mixed stands)and varying degrees of disease occurrence(2 years,5 years,and 8 years)were established.Under natural restoration conditions,two treatments were applied:drilling and injection,and no drilling and injection.The impact of these treatments on the number of dead trees in each plot was investigated.[Result]The results showed that after the occurrence of pine wilt disease,in mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests affected by the disease for 5 and 8 years under natural restoration measures,the proportion of pine trees decreased by 41.30%and 55.56%,respectively,and the canopy closure rate decreased by 17.05%and 5.03%,respectively.In plots where infected wood was not removed,the number of dead trees increased annually,with increase rates of 36.36%and 15.24%.In plots where infected wood was not removed but drilling and injection were applied,the number of dead trees gradually decreased,with a decrease rate of 36.36%.In plots where infected wood was removed,the number of dead trees decreased annually,with decrease rates of 33.33%and 45.46%.In plots where both infected wood removal and drilling and injection were applied,the number of dead trees decreased annually,with decrease rates of 44.68%and 53.84%.[Conclusion]The results of this study indicate that the combination of artificial intervention and natural restoration techniques is effective in controlling pine wilt disease.This study aims to provide references and guidance for the prevention and control of pine wilt disease.
