Abstract

Given the context of global efforts in addressing climate change,carbon emission accounting serves as a critical prerequisite for quantifying the effectiveness of emission reduction pathways,holding significance for promoting green and low-carbon development in the rail transit sector of China.To this end,a full life-cycle carbon emission measurement model for urban rail transit was constructed based on the life cycle assessment method,with Guangzhou Metro Line 21 selected as a case study for carbon emission accounting and analysis.The results demonstrate that the total carbon emissions throughout the system's full life-cycle of the line reach 4 676 856.43 t carbon dioxide equivalent,where the construction phase contributes 46.35%of the total emissions.During the operation phase,train traction and station operation account for 30.06%and 23.59%of emissions respectively.This study establishes clear accounting boundaries for the carbon emissions of urban rail transit and examines the full life-cycle carbon emission intensity of Guangzhou Metro Line 21,providing critical reference for the carbon emission assessment in rail transit systems.
