Concept in Action:The Practical History of the"United Front"in the Early Stage of the Comprehensive Anti-Japanese War

Abstract
In the early stages of the comprehensive Anti-Japanese War,the term"united front"replaced the term"alliance front"and became the widely adopted expression for promoting unity in the resistance against Japan.However,due to the failure of the Kuomintang and the CPC to reach an agreement on the cooperation mechanisms,there were still many ambiguities in the specific connota-tion of the"united front",making it difficult to grasp the appropriate balance in practical applica-tion.Meanwhile,this concept became a shared political resource among multiple parties and widely intervened in reality.The Kuomintang also attempted to gain dominance over the"united front".For the CPC,the interpretation of the"united front"should not only strengthen norms to ensure consistent implementation across regions,but also enrich its connotations to address potential fric-tions and conflicts.As a political concept with strong practical orientation,the"united front"under-went repeated testing and adjustment in practice,gradually clarifying its meaning through complex political struggles and ever-changing circumstances.Ultimately,it evolved into a more stable poli-cy theory,and precipitated as an important theoretical resource of the CPC.关键词
