Exploring the Pathogenesis and Treatment of Atherosclerosis Based on the Correlation between the Earth Pivotinging Four Organs and Autophagy

Abstract
Atherosclerosis(AS)is a major cause of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,and its progression is closely related to autophagy dysfunction.The authors review the process of autophagy and find that the involvement of autophagy in cellular energy metabolism and material transformation is highly similar to the physiological processes described by the"Earth Pivoting Four Organs,"which include strengthening the middle earth,elevating the clear,descending the turbid,adjusting the balance of the organs,and maintaining life activities.When the middle earth is weak,the pivot fails to function,causing the rise and fall to reverse,leading to Yang deficiency and Yin accumulation,which may result in atherosclerosis.Further analysis reveals that autophagy dysfunction leads to energy metabolism disorders,endothelial cell damage,and impaired material transformation,promoting the accumulation of metabolic products.This can be seen as the microscopic mechanism of atherosclerosis caused by the dysfunction of the"Earth Pivoting Four Organs."Therefore,this article uses autophagy as a starting point,relying on the"Earth Pivoting Four Organs"theory to construct a disease development mechanism linking autophagy,the Earth Pivoting Four Organs,and atherosclerosis.The dynamic evolution process of atherosclerosis is explained,and a treatment principle is proposed:focusing on supporting the middle earth to assist the transportation function and restoring cellular autophagy levels;supplementing with phlegm resolution,stasis removal,and inhibiting the accumulation of pathological products.The treatment combines strengthening the righteous Qi and expelling pathogens,harmonizing the middle Qi,and adjusting the rise and fall to regulate autophagy dysfunction and prevent and treat atherosclerosis.关键词
