摘要

Abstract

By reconstructing the legitimacy of technical knowledge,skill-oriented colleges have emerged as a unique type within China's higher education landscape,signifying a transformation from a"vertical hierarchy"to a"horizontal categorization"in the higher education system.However,the scope,characteristics and developmental positioning of skill-oriented colleges remain areas of urgent exploration in the academic community.Based on an international comparison of categorization policies in higher education and localized practices,this study systematically reviews the theoretical foundations of institutional classification systems,clarifies the core scope and characteristics of skill-oriented colleges,and focuses on exploring the developmental positioning of this type of institution by analyzing the value orientations embedded in policy texts.The research posits that Mr.Pan Maoyuan's academic concept of a"tripartite classification"of colleges has laid a theoretical foundation for contemporary institutional categorization.The scope of skill-oriented colleges can be divided into narrow and broad interpretations,encompassing three aspects:educational form,knowledge production and societal function.In terms of developmental positioning,it can be considered through three dimensions:objective positioning,which emphasizes industry-oriented educational characteristics;hierarchical positioning,which stresses the construction of a comprehensive cultivation system;and research positioning,which focuses on addressing practical issues faced by industries and enterprises.
