Abstract

This study addresses severe cracking issues observed during the stamping process of automotive components using 1.8 mm thick HC380LAD+Z cold rolled galvanized steel sheets produced by Mill A for an automaker.Abnormalities in the material's chemical composition,mechanical properties,and microstructure prior to stamping were analyzed,alongside simulation analysis of the stamping forming process using AutoForm software.The results indicate that the failure during stamping of HC380LAD+Z galvanized sheets for this component was primarily attributed to material aging effects,which reduced the threshold requirements during forming.Mitigation measures such as lowering the dynamic friction coefficient between the sheet and dies,reducing blank holder force,and optimizing forming processes effectively resolved cracking issues,achieving a qualified part rate exceeding 98%.Furthermore,simulation analysis revealed a strong correlation between the material's n value(strain hardening exponent)and formability.When the n value exceeds 0.13,the risk of part cracking is significantly reduced.
