论"东林素衣"吴桂森的隐逸心态
On the Reclusive Mentality:Wu Guisen as the Commoner Scholar of Donglin Academy
摘要
Abstract
Wu Guisen, the third intellectual leader of the Donglin Academy, styled himself"Donglin Suyi",signifying his lifelong status as a commonel scholar. His reclusion was deeply intertwined with his family heritage, scholarly lineage, and the tumultuous political climate of the late Ming Dynasty.Residing within the academy,Wu practiced a form of seclusion rooted in the Cheng-Zhu School's Dao-concealment tradition,a Neo-Confucian philosophy emphasizing moral cultivation away from worldly affairs.Yet his pursuit of inner joy and self-contentment in reclusion revealed influences from Chen Xianzhang's teachings, reflecting a harmonious alignment with nature and human sentiment. This stood in stark contrast to the era's prevailing trend of secularized reclusion, which often prioritized personal comfort over ethical ideals.Wu's rejection of officialdom did not signal detachment from societal concerns. On the contrary,he maintained a profound commitment to governance and the welfare of the people, revealing a robust sense of social responsibility. While he deliberated between public service and private retreat, his conviction remained unshaken:the essence of his reclusion lay in rectifying moral values through scholarly cultivation. For Wu,the Donglin Academy was not merely a refuge but a platform to nurture ethical consciousness-a testament to the unique moral vision upheld by its commoner scholars.关键词
