东南极海域海冰长期变化特征分析
Analysis of the long-term change of sea ice in the East Antarctic region
摘要
Abstract
Antarctic sea ice plays a crucial role in the global climate system, significantly influencing the Earth's material-energy balance and ecosystem. While the mechanisms of sea ice variability in the West Antarctic region have been extensively studied, the long-term trends of sea ice in the East Antarctic region remain in-sufficiently explored.Based on ERA5 reanalysis data from 1979 to 2024,this study focuses on the East Antarctic region(30°E--120°E,50°S--70°S)and examines the long-term variability of sea ice from both temporal and spatial perspectives. The results indicate a significant north-south asymmetry in sea ice trends within this region.Using the 3500-meter isobath as a boundary, sea ice in the southern coastal region has shown a significant increasing trend(0.772%·(10 a)-1),while the northern region has experienced a notable decline trend(-0.756%·(10 a)-1).Additionally,sea ice area in the southern coastal region has increased(2700 km2·(10 a)-1),while it has decreased in the northern region(-21300 km2·(10 a)-1).The seasonal analysis reveals that spring and winter are the primary seasons contributing to this asymmetric response. The second mode of sea ice variability in spring and winter is identified as the dominant pattern responsible for this asymmetric change. In recent years, particularly after 2014,the decline in sea ice concentration trend has become more pronounced(-7.066%·(10 a)-1),with an increasing divergence in sea ice concentration trends between the northern and southern regions. These findings provide a more comprehensive under-standing of East Antarctic sea ice variability.关键词
