Climatological distribution of summer Circumpolar Deep Water in the Dotson-Getz Trough,West Antarctica

Abstract
In West Antarctica,the Circumpolar Deep Water(CDW),which originates from the Antarctic Circum-polar Current,provides a heat source for the Dotson-Getz Trough;however,little is known about its clima-tological distribution.Based on EN4 data,information from the Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean project(ECCO),and Copernicus Global(1/12)° Oceanic and Sea Ice(GLORYS12)reanalysis data,this study analyzed the austral summer(January)climatology of the CDW in the Dotson-Getz Trough.Results revealed that the depth of the upper boundary of the CDW has considerable zonal variation along the zonal section in the western Amundsen Sea basin,and that the temperature and salinity of the CDW attains values of 1℃and 34.7,respectively.In the along-section of the Dotson-Getz Trough,the depth of the upper boundary of the CDW varies,and the temperature and salinity values of the CDW are generally higher than 0℃and 34.6,respectively.The cross-section of the Dotson-Getz Tough reveals an east-west difference,where the temperature and salinity of the CDW are higher on the eastern side of the trough.关键词
