Review and prospect of research on Arctic shipping routes

Abstract
In the context of global warming,the feasibility of opening the Arctic Passage is increasing,which has aroused widespread concern globally.However,existing systematic reviews of current research on Arctic shipping routes lack comprehensiveness.To compensate for this deficiency,this study systematically sorted relevant literature on the theme of the Arctic Passage in Scopus and Weipu(VIP),and performed biblio-metric analysis based on seven fields,including journal abstracts and keywords.Additionally,VOSviewer software was used for co-occurrence clustering and network structure analysis by keyword.Analysis re-vealed that current research on Arctic shipping routes focuses on assessing the feasibility of opening the shipping routes,the geopolitical impact of the shipping routes,the impact of the shipping routes on interna-tional trade and shipping networks,and the ecological environment impact of opening the shipping routes.There are four shortcomings of current research that require further exploration.First,there is insufficient research on models for accurate predictions regarding the opening of shipping routes.Second,systematic quantitative research is lacking on the impact of geopolitical risks and conflicts on the opening of shipping routes.Third,insufficient attention has been given to the construction of shipping infrastructure in Arctic shipping lanes.Fourth,in terms of the impact on the ecological environment of opening shipping routes,current research focuses mainly on predictions and calculations of carbon emissions,without comprehensive analysis of the impact of emissions on biological habitats.The findings of this study have substantial theo-retical value for further improving research on Arctic shipping routes.Moreover,the opening of Arctic shipping routes will have considerable impact on the economic development,geopolitical status,and eco-logical security of China and the world.This study has certain decision-making value regarding the formu-lation of China's Arctic shipping route strategy.关键词
