Analysis of the Tectonic Control Actions and Models on Hydrocarbon Accumulation in the Clastic Rock Series of the Tarim Basin

Abstract
As a typical superimposed basin in central and western China,the Tarim Basin has developed multiple sets of clastic rock series since the Late Paleozoic marine and marine-continental transitional sedimentary systems,and there are multiple sets of source-reservoir-caprock assemblages.However,under the influence of multiple phases of tectonic movements and hydrocarbon accumulation processes,the hydrocarbon geological characteristics are extremely complex,which restrict the exploration breakthroughs.Enhancing the theoretical understanding serves as a prerequisite for the advancement of hydrocarbon exploration.Facing numerous exploration challenges in the clastic rock series of the Tarim Basin,this paper systematically summarizes the hydrocarbon exploration achievements and geological understanding,and discusses the tectonic control effects on hydrocarbon accumulation and the hydrocarbon enrichment models in the clastic rock series,aiming to provide useful references for clastic rock exploration in central and western China.In terms of source rock conditions,the clastic rock series are far from the main Cambrian source rocks,and faults are the key to connecting the oil sources and hydrocarbon accumulation.Tectonic features such as paleo-uplifts and faults have different degrees of control over the trap conditions,reservoir conditions,and preservation conditions of the clastic rock series.On this basis,six hydrocarbon enrichment models of tectonic control on hydrocarbon accumulation in the clastic rock series are proposed,and favorable exploration directions such as the slopes of paleo-uplifts,the tops of paleo-uplifts,platform-basin areas,piedmont zones,fault-concentrated areas,and inversion structures are pointed out.关键词
