Abstract

The composite electrode materials which deal with four heavy metals,namely Cd,Pb,Cu and As,with an excellent treatment effect were selected by electrokinetic repair technique.These materials were chosen to avoid excessive changes in the pH of the cathode and anode during the repair process and to overcome the limitation of removing a variety of heavy metals by a single material.Thus,we used hydrotalc,artificial/natural zeolite,anionic adsorption resin,wood powder carbon,acid zeolite,zero-valent iron and macroporous cationic adsorption resin as adsorption materials in different proportions to form composite electrodes and placed them on the electrodes of the electric device in the form of wrapping.To reduce the range of pH changes during the repair process,the experiment used glutamate tetrasodium diacetate(GLDA)as the chelating agent.Then the changes of pH and electrical conductivity(EC)before and after treatment were tested,and the removal efficiency of the composite electrode materials was calculated.The results show that under the ratio of hydrotalc to mother liquor of 4:10,the removal rate of four heavy metals by cathode and anode can reach more than 90%,and the pH increases after anodic treatment.Wood powder carbon has a good removal effect on Pb and Cu at the anode,and zero-valent iron has a good removal effect on Pb and Cu at the cathode.
