Hydrothermal Liquefaction and Hydrodeoxygenation Upgrading Technologies to Convert Biomass into Transportation Fuels:Progress and Prospects

Abstract
In order to deeply explore the large-scale production of energy-dense and safe transportation fuels from carbon-neutral biomass renewable resources,the research status and existing technical bottlenecks of biomass hydrothermal liquefaction technology,bio-crude oil hydrodeoxygenation upgrading technology,and the application status of upgraded bio-based fuels in the transportation industry were systematically summarized.The results show that,the efficiency of biomass-to-oil can be improved by optimizing hydrothermal liquefaction parameters,but it still faces the challenge of large-scale continuous application.The hydrodeoxygenation upgrading of bio-crude oil faces problems such as high dependence on high-pressure exogenous hydrogen and easy deactivation of catalysts.In addition,there is a lack of systematic research on the combustion behavior of bio-based fuels and their application standards in the transportation industry,which has hindered their application in the transportation field.On this basis,it is proposed that the development of continuous reactors and system integration are the basis of industrialization,In-situ hydrogen source strategy and innovation of new anti-coking catalyst system are the core driving forces of hydrodeoxygenation,the multi-technology coupling upgrade of bio-crude oil can expand product adaptability,the full-chain technical economy and carbon footprint assessment is the decision-making support,and the construction of a bio-based fuel standard system is the application guarantee.These are the future development directions of large-scale production of green and low-carbon transportation fuels from biomass,which can provide technical reference for China to establish a future energy industry system.关键词
