Abstract

Ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer(EVA)serves as a core encapsulation material for crystalline silicon photovoltaic(PV)modules due to its excellent adhesive,protective,and optical properties.However,its strong bonding with glass,cell sheets,and backsheets,along with stable chemical characteristics,leads to significant challenges in efficient separation and removal during module recycling,presenting a key obstacle in constructing a green recycling system for PV modules.In response,this paper reviews the structure of crystalline silicon PV modules and the properties of EVA films,and introduces three EVA removal techniques,thermal decomposition,chemical swelling,and mechanical removal.Research shows that thermal decomposition method is the most effective method to directly eliminate EVA,but the waste gas would be generated during the heating process,which generates environmental pollution.Chemical swelling method is a promising method for the separation of layers,but most of used solvents are toxic.Mechanical removal method is simple to operate,but it cannot achieve full separation of different layers.All three methods have their own shortcomings.Therefore,the development of high-precision separation equipment,in-depth research on green solvothermal methods,and the development of coupled process technologies are the key research directions for the future.
