The double-edged effect of generative artificial intelligence on teaching innovation of university teachers:the role of GAI efficiency perception-GAI techno-stress and GAI-driven cognitive crafting

Abstract
From the subjective cognitive perspective of university teachers,this study is rooted in the paradigm of Sense-Think-Act.According to the results of empirical research,the efficacy perception derived from GAI knowledge acquisition and application or techno-stress caused by GAI knowledge overloading among various university teachers significantly drives or hinders their innovative teaching behaviors with GAI technology,which is characterized as a double-edged effect,resulting in the widening of the"innovation gap"among university teachers.This study demonstrates that the dual mediating effect of GAI-driven cognitive crafting has created both the opportunities for"cognitive transformation"and the risks of"deskilling".Only by reconstructing teachers' inherent cognition can generative artificial intelligence stimulate their innovative impetus based on the essence of nurturing people.In addition,the stronger the usage of GAI is,the weaker the positive effect of teachers' efficacy perception on cognitive crafting will be.In view of this,colleges and universities should promote in multiple aspects such as establishing a technical adaptability training system and customizing interdisciplinary training,building a supporting technical guarantee mechanism and optimizing the technical costs of teachers,paying attention to the role reshaping of university teachers,the transformation of teaching design and the improvement of meta-capabilities,and establishing a long-term incentive mechanism that suits the organizational system,in order to stimulate and guide the teaching innovation behaviors of teachers.关键词
