Measurements of Bremsstrahlung Spectra by Low-energy Electrons Impact on Thick Al,Si Targets

Abstract
It has been confirmed that there is no significant contribution of polarization bremsstrahlung by electron impacting on high atomic number(high-Z)targets.In order to verify the influence of polarization bremsstrahlung of low atomic number(low-Z)targets with electron collisions,the experimental bremsstrahlung spectra produced by 5-25 keV electrons impact on thick Al and Si targets has been measured,and compared with Monte Carlo code PENELOPE simulations which are only based on ordinary bremsstrahlung(OB)cross-section data.The results show that the experimental spectra are in good agreement with the theoretical bremsstrahlung spectra simulated by Monte Carlo in both shape and size.It is shown that Monte Carlo program containing OB cross section data can simulate the bremsstrahlung spectrum generated by electron impact on low-Z thick target very well.The simulation mechanism and accuracy are also reliable,and there is no obvious contribution of polarized bremsstrahlung in electron collision with low-Z thick targets,so it can be described by ordinary bremsstrahlung theory.This also provides a certain reference for the following research of bremsstrahlung in the future.关键词
