Construction of XFEM-MITC9 plate element and analysis of plate structure with holes

Abstract
Aiming at the problems of thin plate structures with holes of different shapes by the traditional finite element method involved discontinuities in the material,difficulties in meshing,grid distortions,and shear locking,a new XFEM-MITC9 plate element was constructed by combining the extended finite element method(XFEM)with the mixed interpolation of tensorial components theory(MITC).The element used the level set function to describe the discontinuous boundaries in the structure,selected different numerical integration plans according to the relative relationship between the elements and the boundary of the hole,and performed the hybrid interpolation process on the transverse shear strain to calculate the stiffness matrix of the elements.In the examples,MINDLIN,MITC9,and XFEM-MITC9 plate element finite element programs were designed to solve static and modal problems of thin plates with holes of different sizes and shapes.Results show that compared with the automatic dynamic incremental nonlinear analysis(ADINA)calculation results,the calculation error of the XFEM-MITC9 plate element is less than 2%,which can effectively avoid the shear locking phenomenon.Numerical examples verified the feasibility of the related algorithms of the XFEM-MITC9 plate element,and improved the convenience to solve the problems of plates and shells with holes.关键词
