Abstract

To investigate the dynamic change patterns of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in Artemisia dracunculus L.,gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry(GC-IMS)combined with orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA)was employed to detect and analyze the changes in VOCs of A.dracunculus during different harvest periods(15-90 days,S1-S6).The results indicated that a total of 63 signal peaks were identified,corresponding to 39 VOCs,including 7 ketones,9 aldehydes,9 alcohols,6 terpenes,3 esters,and 5 other substances.The peak intensity of terpenes was relatively high at S1(15 days)and S4(60 days),while the aldehydes reached the highest level at S6(90 days)and the lowest at S2(30 days).The terpene substances showed a trend of first decreasing,then increasing,and finally decreasing again.The ketone substances showed a trend of first increasing,then decreasing,and finally increasing again.The aldehyde and alcohol compounds showed a W-shaped trend throughout the picking period,while the ester substances showed an M-shaped trend.The OPLS-DA method was used to analyze the differences in VOCs of A.dracunculus at different harvest periods.The results revealed that the VOCs in S1,S2,and S3 samples were relatively similar,as were S5 and S6.A total of 20 VOCs with a variable importance in projection(VIP value)≥1.0 could be used as rapid identification markers for A.dracunculus.Comprehensive analysis indicated that the main marker components in fresh A.dracunculus leaves were(E)-2-hexenal,(E)-2-pentenal,(Z)-4-heptenal,1-pentanol,1-penten-3-ol,1-penten-3-one,1-propanethiol,2-methyl butanal,2-methylpropanoic acid,2-octanone,3-methyl-2-butenal,acetone,α-pinene,β-ocimene,β-pinene,ethyl 3-methylbutanoate,γ-terpinene,limonene,methyl 3-methylbutanoate,and myrcene.
