摘要
Abstract
This study explored how cultural consumption influences the conservation of historical buildings and spatial regeneration in Xinhepu Historical District in Guangzhou,so as to provide practical approaches to reconciling modem urbanization with the preservation of traditional cultural heritage. With a synthesized method that combines field research, questionnaire surveys, and in-depth interviews for verification, this study systematically analyzed the spatial distribution, functional configuration, and dynamic evolution of cultural consumption. The analysis grounded in cultural capital theory and semiotics indicated that the architectural space in Xinhepu Historical District exhibits composite functions and diversified business patterns with impetus from cultural consumption, which effectively activates the cultural potential of communities and facilitatesthe integrated and innovative development of cultural tourism. However,we must keep alert to the potential erosion of the intrinsic value of historical buildings due to excessive commercialization. The study revealed the pivotal role of cultural consumption in the sustainable development of historic districts. Moreover,it was recommended to develop a"trinity"strategy for conservation and development, including implementing innovative strategies for cultural symbol conservation, promoting community-based cultural planning, and developing diverse cultural experience models,to strike a balance between commercial development and historic preservation.关键词
