Abstract
Objective:To analyze the effect and complications of ipsilateral vascular pedicled submental island flap in repairing defects after surgery for cheek/gingival squamous cell carcinoma.Methods:A total of 28 patients with oral squa-mous cell carcinoma who underwent extensive resection of malignant tumors of the cheek and gingiva in the hospital from Oc-tober 2017 to December 2024 were selected.According to different postoperative defect repair methods,the patients were di-vided into control group(17 cases treated with buccal fat pad combined with adjacent soft tissue flaps)and observation group(11 cases treated with ipsilateral vascular pedicled submental island flaps).Comparisons were made between groups on surgi-cal indicators,success rate of flap repair,swallowing and masticatory function,aesthetic effect,complications and recurrence.Results:Compared to the control group,flap preparation time and surgery time were longer,the intraoperative blood loss of the observation group was more(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the success rate of flap repair in the observation group(90.91％)compared to the control group(88.24％)(P＞0.05).At 3 months postoperatively,the standardized swallo-wing assessment(SSA)and Vancouver scar scale(VSS)scores were significantly lower,the masticatory function score was significantly higher in the observation group(P＜0.05).The incidence of complications such as flap necrosis,infection,scar-ring and recurrence in the observation group was similar to that of the control group(P＞0.05).Conclusion:Both modalities have a better success rate in repairing postoperative defects of oral squamous cell carcinoma.The latter requires relatively lon-ger flap preparation time and operation time,and intraoperative blood loss is more.However,it is more effective in restoring relevant oral function and aesthetic effects,and reducing the risk of postoperative complications.关键词
