Role of Internet Use in Alleviating the In-Work Poverty of Workers:An Empirical Analysis Based on CFPS2020

Abstract
The development of the digital economy and the popularization and application of the Internet in recent years have been influencing the employment structure and quality in the labor market,thereby exerting a profound impact on the income of workers.Based on the database of 2020 China Family Panel Studies(CFPS),this paper examines the in-work poverty of workers aged 16 to 65.Then it explores the impact of Internet use in the era of the digital economy on the in-work poverty at the micro level with a binary Logit model.The results show that Internet use can significantly reduce the risk of workers fall-ing into in-work poverty.Further analysis reveals that the Internet,a crucial channel for workers to access information,promotes their online learning of knowledge and skills while driving their shift from agricultural to non-agricultural employment,thus effectively alleviating their in-work poverty.Based on these findings,it recommends strengthening the construction of Internet infrastructure in western and rural areas,and improving the digital literacy of workers to reduce their risk of falling into in-work poverty.关键词
