Abstract

Postharvest anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides is a major constraint in the development of the mango industry.Our previous studies revealed that Streptomyces F2 strongly antagonizes C.gloeosporioides.To better utilize this strain,we investigated its antagonistic mechanism against C.gloeosporioides.The results showed that the F2 fermentation broth damaged the plasma membrane integrity of the spores,thereby reducing the spore germination rate.It also disrupts hyphal cell integrity,causing leakage of intracellular soluble proteins and total sugars and inhibiting hyphal growth.After 6 h of treatment,the fermentation broth induced temporary increases in the hyphal respiration rate,Na+K+-ATPase and Ca2+Mg2+-ATPase activities,and ATP concentration,possibly as a stress response.However,after 12 h of treatment,the respi-ration rates and activities of four enzymes(Na+K+-ATPase,Ca2+Mg2+-ATPase,SDH,and MDH)continuously decreased,and the ATP content decreased,significantly inhibiting hyphal physiological metabolism.The 10×diluted fermentation broth showed 98.35%control efficacy against postharvest mango anthracnose,demonstrating good biocontrol potential.The anti-fungal effect is achieved through disruption of hyphal and spore membrane integrity,coupled with inhibition of energy metab-olism and hyphal growth in C.gloeosporioides.Streptomyces F2 shows promising potential for use in biological control ap-plications.
