Rethinking the"Research Object"of National Security Studies:A Strategic Perspective Based on Value Judgments

摘要
Abstract
[Research purpose]This study aims to establish a more precise and delimited definition for the research object of national secu-rity studies,in order to address its"overgeneralization"problem and thereby strengthen the theoretical foundation of this discipline.[Re-search method]Employing a comprehensive literature review to achieve conceptual clarification of"strategy",delineating its intension and extension,and subsequently applies this refined understanding to the field of national security studies to explicate its specific disciplina-ry significance.[Research result/conclusion]"Strategy"fundamentally represents a dialectical relationship between ends and means,with its distinctive characteristic lying in the"value judgments"nature of its ends.When applied to national security studies,this leads to a more precise limitation of its research object,which must exhibit two operational-level characteristics:a.the existence of multiple feasi-ble options in end selection.b.the incorporation of international elements within these ends.This suggests that national security studies ul-timately calls for the re-examination of the state's fundamental political purposes.关键词
