Abstract

Tetracycline antibiotics(TCs)are widely used in medicine and aquaculture.Their residues pose a threat to food safety and the ecological environment.Therefore,it is crucial to develop efficient and sensitive detection methods for TCs.This study utilizes sodium citrate as the carbon source,incorporates Zn and Al doping,and synthesizes carbon dots(Zn,Al-CDs)through a hydrothermal method.By employing these carbon dots as fluorescent probes,ultrasensitive fluorescence detection of TC is achieved.With the increase of TCs concentration,the detection system exhibits green fluorescence,and a good linear connection is observed between fluorescence intensity and TCs concentration.The detection system has linear ranges of 0.01~7 μM,0.01~7 μM,0.01~5 μM,and 0.01~7 μM for tetracycline hydrochloride(TCH),chlortetracycline hydrochloride(CTC),oxytetracycline hydrochloride(OTC),and doxycycline hydrochloride(DOC),respectively,with detection limits of 5.6 nM,7.41 nM,4.28 nM,and 13.5 nM,respectively.Different types of tetracyclines are distinguished by the emission wavelength of the systemic fluorescence.In addition,the Zn,Al-CDs material is successfully applied to detect TCH in tap water,river water and milk,and the paper-based sensor prepared with Zn,Al-CDs can achieve semi-quantitative visual detection of TCs,indicating the material's potential as a qualitative and quantitative detection sensor for tetracycline antibiotics.
