Abstract

Folk rituals serve dual functions as essential cinematic textual components and unique narrative perspec-tives.The I AM WHAT I AM animation series integrates Lingnan lion dance culture with the narrative of teenagers'growth,breaking away from the monotony of individual inspirational narrative and constructing a paradigm of visual ex-pression with profound realistic depth.The series exemplifies three dimensions of modern reinterpretation for traditional folklore:First,it centers the narrative around the growth trajectory of grassroots teenagers painstakingly mastering lion dance skills,transforming folk rituals into personal life experiences.Second,digital imaging technology is used to visu-ally reconstruct cultural symbols such as the lion dance movement system and the lion head craftsmanship,injecting con-temporary aesthetic characteristics while preserving the essence of traditional aesthetics.Third,through the dual-line structure of competitive narrative and master-apprentice inheritance,it maintains the cultural authenticity of folk rituals and expands their communication effectiveness in the field of youth subculture.By adopting transmedia storytelling strate-gies,the series provides a visualized model of creative transformation for the intergenerational inheritance of folk rituals.
