Abstract

To investigate the pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of polybutylene terephthalate(PBT)material under different heating rates and heat radiation intensities,a comprehensive analysis of the thermal stability,pyrolysis gas components,and combustion behavior of PBT was conducted using cone calorimetry,single thermogravimetric analysis,and thermogravimetric-infrared coupled analysis techniques.The results show that the pyrolysis of PBT is affected by the heating rate.During the pyrolysis process,the pyrolysis products of PBT mainly include CO2,CO,benzene and its derivatives,alkanes,alkenes,silicon dioxide,and other substances,as well as oxygen-containing organic compounds such as alcohols,acids,and sulfur-containing organic compounds,and a small amount of water.When the heating rate is 15℃/min,the synergistic reaction mechanism leads to a significant reduction in the amount of residual carbon,while a higher heating rate promotes the generation of gases such as CO2 and CO.As the heat radiation intensity increases,the ignition time is shortened,the peak of heat release rate is increased,and the release of harmful gases and smoke is intensified.The average CO2 release rate increased by 0.14%,and the maximum smoke generation rate increased by 0.05 m2/s.The fire hazard analysis based on the N-GAS model,fire performance index,fire growth index,and fire spread index confirms that the fire risk of PBT material is positively correlated with the heat radiation intensity.
