Effects of fermented Chinese herbal medicine oral liquid on growth performance,blood routine,serum biochemical,serum immune indexes,and fecal microbiota of puppies

Abstract
The experiment aimed to explore the effects of fermented Chinese herbal medicine oral liquid on the growth performance,blood routine,serum biochemical,serum immune indexes,and fecal microbiota of puppies.Twenty-four healthy and similarly weighted weaned Chinese countryside dogs at 42 days of age were randomly divided into four groups,with six replicates in each group and one dog per replicate.The control group was orally with 2 mL/kg of physiological saline,while the experimental groups were orally with 1(low-dose group),2(medium dose group),and 3 mL/kg(high-dose group)of fermented Chinese herbal medicine oral liquid,respectively.The trial period was 14 days.The results showed that compared with the control group,the final weight gain and average daily weight gain of the medium dose group were significantly increased(P＜0.05),and the diarrhea rate was significantly reduced(P＜0.05),the white blood cell count,lymphocyte absolute value,total protein content,and globulin content were significantly increased(P＜0.05).The medium dose and high-dose groups were able to significantly increased the levels of serum immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin G,as well as the activity of alkaline phosphatase(P＜0.05),significantly reduced the level of tumor necrosis factor-α(P＜0.05),and extremely increased the level of serum immune factor-10(P＜0.01).The medium dose and high-dose groups could extremely reduce the number of Escherichia coli in feces(P＜0.01),significantly reduce the number of Salmonella(P＜0.05),and significantly increase the number of Bacillus(P＜0.05).The medium dose group showed a significant increased in Lactobacillus(P＜0.05),and the high-dose group showed a extremely increased(P＜0.01).The results show that fermented Chinese herbal medicine oral liquid can enhance the immune function,regulate intestinal microbiota structure,reduce the rate of diarrhea and improve the growth performance of Chinese countryside puppies.The best oral dose is 2 mL/kg.关键词
