Effects of Bacillus subtilis strain on nutrient apparent digestibility,fecal odor,blood routine,immune,and antioxidant indices of dogs

Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with Bacillus subtilis strain C-3102 on the nutrient apparent digestibility,fecal odor,blood routine,immune function,and antioxidant function in border collipoid dogs.Twelve border collipoid dogs(approximately 8 years old,half male and half female)were randomly divided into two groups with six replicates in each group,and one dog in each replicate.The control group was fed a basal diet,while the experimental group received the basal diet supplemented with Bacillus subtilis C-3102 at 100 g/t(1 × 1010 CFU/g).The pre-test lasted for seven days and the formal test lasted for 30 days.The results showed that compared with the control group,the crude protein digestibility in the experimental group was significantly increased(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in blood routine and serum biochemical indexes between the control group and the experimental group(P＞0.05).Compared with the control group,the concentrations of interleukin-6(IL-6),complement protein 3(C3),immunoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin M(IgM),and immunoglobulin G(IgG)were significantly increased(P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the activity of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)in serum was significantly reduced in the experimental group(P＜0.05).The study indicates that supplementing border collipoid dogs diets with 100 g/t(1 × 1010 CFU/g)of Bacillus subtilis strain C-3102 poses no adverse effects,enhances immune function,and improves crude protein apparent digestibility.关键词
