Abstract

This study aims to establish a simple,rapid,efficient,and highly sensitive method for the simultaneous detection of eight alkylphenols(APs)and bisphenol A(BPA)in surface water using a small-volume liquid-liquid extraction coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS).Surface water samples were extracted with acetonitrile,vortex-mixed and allowed to stand,then the upper clear liquid was filtered.The samples were separated by liquid chromatography and detected by mass spectrometry.Identification was based on retention time,MS fragment ions,and their abundances,with quantification using an internal standard method.Results showed that the calibration curves for the analytes were linear in the range of 0.2-5.0 μg/L,with correlation coefficients greater than 0.998;the detection limits ranged from 0.025 to 0.08 μg/L.The relative standard deviations(n=6)for target compounds at concentrations of 0.1,0.5,and 2.0μg/L ranged from 1.5%to 17%,and the recoveries of spiked samples were between 69.3%and 128%.Applying this method to detect surface water samples from Sichuan Province,bisphenol A,nonylphenol,and octylphenol were detected.The recoveries of APs and BPA in real samples ranged from 62.2%to 122%.The results demonstrate that this method is simple to operate,highly sensitive,and suitable for detecting trace levels of APs and BPA in surface water.
