Abstract

Due to the complex service conditions and foundation conditions of the traffic bridge at the gate storehouse on the left bank of a flood diversion sluice in a water conservancy project,accurately determining the causes of cracks in concrete structures is challenging.This study first qualitatively analyzed potential cracking factors based on service conditions and foundation settlement monitoring data.A 3D finite element model of the entire gate storehouse of the flood diversion sluice was then established.Different calculation conditions were designed considering three main cracking factors:heavy truck load,uneven settlement of foundation,and temperature load.Linear elastic finite element models,viscoelastic finite element models,and temperature stress field simulation models were used to calculate the horizontal stress in the traffic bridge at the gate storehouse caused by these factors,aiming to explore the causes of cracks.The results show that the coupling of adverse temperature drop load in winter and uneven settlement of the foundation generates approximately 3 MPa of tensile stress at the middle position of the traffic bridge at the gate storehouse.By comparing with the actual crack locations on the traffic bridge,it is concluded that the combination of these two factors is the primary cause of cracks,while the heavy truck load is not the main contributing factor.This research provides a reference for crack cause analysis in similar engineering projects.
